Recap: Adventure Series Circumnav Ride + Race Weekend

Riding a Greenway Loop Around Raleigh
This past weekend, 22 people joined the Greenway Circumnavigation ride around Raleigh’s major greenways as part of the Lake Raleigh Adventure Series, led by Debra and Jeff Rezeli.
This ride was especially exciting—not only was it the largest Adventure Series turnout to date, but it also marked a milestone in a journey that started last year when Jeff and I first talked about him and Debra leading events to introduce folks to the various disciplines of adventure racing.
Since last summer, we’ve hosted at least one event each month, ranging from hikes and trail runs to greenway rides. One exciting addition has been a new weekly run club on Sunday mornings led by Josh Grassel! It’s officially called NABR (Not A Bike Ride, or alternatively Not A Bad Run), and it’s a casual-paced few miles around Lake Raleigh. This past weekend, six runners showed up.
The Adventure Series continues as a monthly event—check the event calendar for upcoming dates, as well as for NABR run details.

TBL Ladies Race Winston-Salem
While the circumnavigation ride was rolling through Raleigh, Lauren, Molly, and Rachel were racing in Winston-Salem at the Gears & Guitars Classic. This is the biggest criterium race in North Carolina—and one of the coolest courses in the country (in my opinion…). It was awesome to see so many stacked women's fields!
The ladies held their own and, like everyone facing it for the first time, got a taste of that brutal hill on the course. It was an inspiring day of racing all around, capped off with us sticking around to watch the elite racers fly through in the evening.
Between the Greenway ride and the Winston-Salem race, it was a well-rounded weekend of bikes for the community. Good stuff!
