Bike racing in Raleigh: Cross is here!
If you've ever been near Spring Hill in Dorothea Dix Park in the early autumn and wondered to yourself "What's up with all those cowbells I hear?" chances are you might have stumbled upon a cyclocross race.
Cyclocross, described by both racers and outsiders as "crazy people riding their bikes around in the grass as hard as they can" is one of the longest-lived racing disciplines here in Raleigh.
Oak City Cycling has been a champion of this style of racing since its inception as a shop, with folks like Todd Berger, Liz Hester, and Ed Porter keeping the flame alive throughout challenges in both the bike industry and world at large. Oak City Cycling continues to support the races through its race team, which is putting on a few exciting races over the next few weeks, starting TOMORROW 9/10!
