Weekly Roundup: January 5-11

Happy 2026!!

We are so excited to kick off the first full week of January with some fun activities:

Friday 01/09 - Watercolor Workshop #2 with Mark 6pm at The Bike Library Cafe

If you have been thinking about starting 2026 on a creative note this watercolor series might be right up your alley.

This is an intro to watercolor workshop series, geared toward those starting out with the medium, although all are welcome. These sessions are designed to be taken sequentially as the techniques learned will build between sessions. So if you attend one, it is best to attend them all.

Please bring your own materials, a suggested list is below:

- Watercolors, any color palette is okay

- Brushes, horsehair brushes are preferred over acrylic or other synthetic materials

- Paper, cold pressed watercolor paper, any size

- Paper towels or lint free cotton rag

- Pen or pencil, if using a pen, it's best to use one with waterproof or archival ink

You can sign up for the series or one class by clicking the button below.

Sunday 01/ 11 - Bike Maintenance Class 10am at The Bike Library Cafe

Since the container will be closed through the month of January we will be having our bike maintenance class at the cafe! During the class, one of the mechanics will be walking participants through the basics of bike maintenance. Please bring your own bike to work on. You can sign up for the class by clicking on the button below.

Sunday 01/11 - Hot Chocolate Ride 12pm at The Bike Library Cafe

After the bike maintenance class we will be hosting a ride over to Escazu Chocolate for some hot chocolate! The ride will be roughly 12 miles long with some road and greenway. This is a casual ride and beginner friendly. Please bring your own bike. If you plan to participate please sign the waiver by clicking the button below.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Come February we will be looking for volunteers to help us run The Bike Library Container on NC States Centennial Campus right on Lake Raleigh.

The shipping container at Lake Raleigh is a dream spot to relax by the water, work on bikes, and meet/assist community members passing by who might need assistance. Additionally it's an opportunity to learn bike maintenance skills and give back to the community.

We'll have 4 shifts every weekend: 10am-1pm and 12pm-3pm for both Saturday and Sunday.

This is an evolving process and we want feedback! Please reach out if you have any. Until that time... see you at the container!
