New Executive Director

We are thrilled to announce that Debra Rezeli has taken over as Executive Director of Greenway Gear Collective. With years of nonprofit experience in both 501c3, 501c4 and PAC environments, Debra is the right person to take GGC to the next level. She is a regular on Espresso Express and co-led the November Bikepacking Trip to Ward's Farm. A fun fact about Debra is that she just hit a 2,200 consecutive day streak of outdoor activity! March 10th will be six years of daily outdoor activities. Come by one of the group rides and say hi!

Container Reopening

The shipping container is reopening this spring, but will be operating in a slightly different form than last year. It will be operated by Greenway Gear Collective, taking over from The Bike Library.

The purpose of this change is to tap into the container's potential as an educational tool as well as a trailside bike shop. By making the container nonprofit-run, we're able to charge less for repairs and focus on helping neighbors and passersby get their bikes up and running for less.

What this means:

  • We need volunteers for the shop! Volunteers will be responsible for helping with minor trailside repairs and educating the public on what GGC does, as well as helping passersby with wayfinding and generally adding to the vibrance of the Lake Raleigh area. After a short onboarding, volunteers will be able to sign up for 4-hour shifts (opening or closing)
  • The service menu will be updated to be a shorter, more concise list of repairs. Since repairs will be subsidized by the nonprofit, they will also be lower priced than before! Tell your friends!
  • Bikes will no longer be available "for rent" and will now be offered as a complimentary perk for Sustaining Members. Which brings us to...

Membership Updates

Going forward, we'll have two tiers of members:

  • "Sustaining Members" or "Sustainers" pay $9/month to support the nonprofit's operations. Sustainers receive:
    • Insurance on every bike ride hosted by GGC (only rides denoted as GGC-hosted in the calendar)
    • Free Bike Assessment at The Bike Library
    • Access to Weekly Roundup Blog Post + Special Blog Writeups (Guest Features, and video/written interviews will now only be sent to Sustainers)
    • GGC Equipment Usage
    • 15% off a service (labor only) at The Bike Library
    • We are actively adding to this perk list... We will send Sustaining Members the updated perk list as it evolves.
  • "Members" will pay $25 per year (around $3 per month) and will receive
    • Insurance on every bike ride hosted by GGC (denoted as GGC in the calendar)
    • Free Bike Assessment at The Bike Library Cafe
    • Access to Weekly Roundup Blog Post

Thanks for your continued support on this project! We are excited to keep right on getting more people on bikes.
