Special Edition Maintenance Class, Bike Academy, Orienteering + More
We’ve got a full lineup of events this week, and we’re excited to share them with you.
Grand Opening – Friday, August 8, 6–8pm
Join us to celebrate The Bike Library’s new storefront. This is a chance to showcase our vendors—Jabin, The Left Hook, Bright and Early Bakery, and Oak City Customs—and to reflect on the journey that brought us here.

We’ll also be screening a short documentary by Jason Hampden of Crafted Film Co., featuring the story of our buildout and interviews with staff and community members.
Bike Maintenance Class – Sunday, 10am–12pm
Stephon Beaufort will lead a special edition of our bike maintenance class focused on trailside repairs—the kinds of skills that can get you back on the road when something goes wrong mid-ride. It’s not our usual curriculum, but it’ll be hands-on and well worth attending.

Popsicle Ride – Sunday, immediately after the maintenance class
Mia and Thomas will lead a casual, social ride to cap off the weekend. If you joined us for the Ice Cream Ride, you know what to expect—good vibes and frozen treats.
Orienteering Challenge – Saturday, August 16, 10am at Dix Park
Jeff and Debra will host a beginner-friendly navigation challenge starting at the gazebo on Umstead Drive, across from the dog park. No experience is necessary—we’ll provide maps, compasses, and a quick tutorial before sending you off to explore Dix Park. Sign up here.
Bike Academy – Coming Soon
Our six-week Bike Academy program, led by Brit Cava and organized by Greenway Gear Collective volunteers, is just around the corner. This round is full, but future sessions will open up soon. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, comfort, and connection while learning how to "do Raleigh" by bike.
All of these events take effort to organize and run—and they’re only possible because of your support. If you’re able, please consider donating or becoming a paid member to help us keep programs like these going strong.
Thanks for being part of the ride.
